When Wondery, a podcast network on the verge of success, lost its chief content officer, CEO Hernan Lopez asked me to join and fill his shoes. But this was more than a fill-in job.

Wondery was on the verge of a massive pivot — its previous strategy for scripted drama podcasts wasn’t working; Lopez was going hard into serialized storytelling. I became his general in the fall of 2017 and winter of 2018.

As I arrived, the company was launching its breakout hit Dirty John. In all, we launched four #1 hits and two more in the top 10. Tens of millions of downloads in aggregate.

Today, Wondery is the #3 podcast network in the world.
